    Worst idea ever merging these two companies. Sure, I can understand synergy and gaining access to American markets for Daimler and potentially giving Chrysler a leg up in Europe, but as we all know, that never happened. Mainly because neither company understood what business etiquette was proper on either side of the ocean

    The reason why GM declined to release pictures or results of their internal offset test? I'm convinced that it's because they never actually performed that test and were just saying that they did in the name of PR in the face of the Trans Sport being the worst performing vehicle in the moderate overlap frontal test.

    Hey more. All cars can kill. The problem is the nut behind wheel. You don't leave kids in a car alone. You don't leave the keys in the car. You don't leave a vehicle without putting on the emergency brake. If you want to use a vehicle, any vehicle you need to take a class in common sense. Insurance covers vehicles even the vehicle s of stupid people.

    In early 2020 an ex of mine was hit in the back while at a stoplight while driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty. It wasn’t a very high speed crash and no one was injured. He is lucky though. The jeep received damage to the rear door and the back glass would no longer close. It was totaled by the insurance company.

    I read somewhere that Chrysler knew it's customers wanted sliding doors on both sides but they couldn't do it until 1996 because the structure on earlier models was too weak to support it.

    How can a responsible adult driver not be smart enough to apply the emergency brake when parked on even the slightest incline? That is a safety feature of long ago!!! No matter what or how many additional safety features are added will not supplement the lack of intelligence of an owner operator of any given vehicle!! Unless the emergency brake is vacuum released automatically there is no justification therein.

    There’s buildings that don’t have sprinklers or even fire detectors or escape routes, what have you - SIMPLY because they complied with and even EXCEEDED whatever OUTDATED safety standards that existed or were in place at the time they were built. Some buildings being “grandfathered in” even when new standards are set because the old standards were not adequate enough in preventing unnecessary deaths. To say you “comply with all safety standards” doesn’t mean shit if the safety standard is clearly not protective enough.

  • @mjallen1308
    @mjallen1308 Рік тому

    It think it’s a dual issue… if it’s a safety issue and you see it’s a problem, just put it in there and then market it as you’re doing all you can to ensure safety. But also, parents - stop leaving your kids and/or keys in the car.

    And it’s usually the driver that was texting/not paying attention/distracted/drinking/Under The Influence/Etc that survives and walks away with barely a scratch when the innocent parties die or are severely maimed or disfigured and/or even paralyzed. I’ll admit, I used to text and drive, eat and drive, drink and drive, smoke weed and/or take pills and drive (tho never at a point where I was unable to function, it still doesn’t matter). I drive so much differently now. Seat all the way forward, hands on the wheel, phone away, attention on the road. I used to even drive 12-20 hours at a time, thinking “oh I’ll just get another Red Bull…” until I fell asleep and ran off the road. Thankfully no one else was on the road and no one was injured. But my spouse and I were 30 minutes from our hotel and I thought I was good to make when I had literally drove almost 19 hours straight. I never told my spouse (now my ex) or any one else at the time. The reason I never let my spouse take over was because I was afraid of how they would drive. Listen to loud music, changing music on their phone, texting, driving over the speed limit in inclement weather. We were moving and driving from Seattle/Tacoma to Augusta GA bc my spouse has orders to change duty stations to Ft Gordon. We had 30 days and since it was November, I suggested driving down through California and across through AZ/NM/TX/Etc since the weather would be warmer and would only add ONE additional day to the schedule. My spouse was so adamant about driving the fastest route through Idaho and Montana and wouldn’t relent. The trip started out fine but then while in the mountains of Montana, it began to snow heavily and the ground was covered in minutes and thickening. Even though I was driving slow, I could feel my car (2015 Mazda 6) losing traction when we’d cross over from roads to bridges (which freeze first). I made it known that i don’t care if it adds 10 days, we’re taking the first road south and continuing south until we get to better weather. We ended up in Utah and it was very cold but it wasn’t snowing and the forecast was dry. I had been driving the entire time bc I knew my spouse wouldn’t drive as careful as I would. We finally decided to stop and I put the hotel in the GPS. I hadn’t nodded off once. I was sure we’d make the 30 minute drive to the hotel. That was until I heard my spouse screaming my name and I looked over and realized we were on the side of the road. What I should have done was just slow down but I tried to get back on the road which caused us to spin out and we hit a guardrail causing the airbags to go off. It was devastating. When we got to dry weather I should have let my spouse drive the last hour. Now, I pull over, I get hotels if needed. I don’t risk it.

    I bet none of these people that knew how bad the latches, the seat backs, and the lack of brake shift interlock was drove their families in these death traps. It’s a shame how people can be concerned about the safety of the public are reprimanded, then ousted from the company and finally sued for “divulging company secrets” - if by secrets you mean how Chrysler just didn’t get a fuck, a shit, even a damn about their customers especially since they already bought the vehicle, they already got the money. It’s bad enough that adults are dying and being maimed, but CHILDREN ARE DYING AND BEING PERMANENTLY DISFIGURED simply bc the top level didn’t want to spend $0.25-$0.50 but I bet they didn’t mind collecting bonuses and even severances and golden parachutes. Ridiculous. I know the Japanese have had their issues too but this is why I stick with Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda…and on the Swedish/German side - VOLVO and Volkswagen. I get VW had the diesel clean air scandal but let’s be real, who died from that? Nobody.

  • @greatvaluechoppedonions8130

    I remember seeing this video not too long after it was uploaded. I tested my mothers 1994 Chrysler Concorde to see if it had brake shift interlock. It did not. That car still exists but is no longer on the road. It’s in storage now.

    I told my mom about this since she used to have 1997 Dodge Caravan that was until 2007 when we got a Honda Odyssey. She was honestly kind of surprised by the dangers of it. I even showed her how the 1996 Dodge Caravan did POOR in the IIHS Crash Tests and the occupant compartment collapsed trapping the dummy. She was said “this was probably why they switched to the Honda Odyssey because it did good in the crash tests and were known to be safe cars. My moms Dodge Caravan also had a lot of front end issues with it and my parents had to put s couple grand into fixing the suspension and radiators as well as other front end problems. That’s also why they switched to Honda and has had a Honda car ever since. She had her 2008 Honda Odyssey since 2007 until 2014 when she traded it in for a 2015 Honda Odyssey. She then traded that in 2018 for a 2019 Honda CRV and drove that until 2021 when she got a 2021 Honda Pilot. My aunt also had a 2008 Honda Odyssey which replaced her 2002 Ford Explorer. Unfortunately hers was totaled when she tried to turn left and a 2003 Chevy Caviler hit her head on, because she misjudged how far she drifted and accidentally drifted into the oncoming traffic. I remember the Cavalier did POOR in the IIHS crash tests too and the dummy was trapped and occupant compartment collapsed. The guy in the Cavalier was also trapped in his car and suffered a broken femur, broken leg, and broken arm. Firefighters had to cut the roof of the car off to get at him and paramedics airlifted him. Meanwhile my aunt was able to walk away from her Honda Odyssey and only suffered from soreness mostly because her car turned left very violently at 90°. However knowing that if that was my mom who got into that crash with her Dodge Caravan haunts me because she definitely would’ve been severely injured.

    An ex of mine was hit from behind at a stoplight in his 2005 Jeep Liberty. I’m not sure how fast the other driver was going but luckily no one was injured. The seat back didn’t fail but I’m surprised the gas tank didn’t explode due to the bad design of the vehicle. Even though me and him aren’t on good terms I am glad he wasn’t injured and no one else was in that accident either.

    It's scary because a lot of vehicles actually have a disengage device in the ignition for the Brake Interlock Device. I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee and a 2001 Malibu in which both you can flip the key to the first notch before the ON position and it allows you to pull it into gear without hitting the brakes. Chevrolet and Chrysler did this purposely as a mechanism for easy towing so you can easily put it in Neutral. Convenient in a sense but moreso scary for kids.

  • @itzchaseyboi

    Honestly fuck Chrysler.. They blantantly designed a deadly vehicle by mounting the tank in a crush zone and will take zero accountability for it. Even having people sign a confidentiality form to cover their tracks is absolutely sickening. Everything about this is sickening about this whole case. With that being said I own one of these which is scary. 2003 Grand Cherokee, in addition mine no longer has any kind of skid plate because it's completely gone from rust so I'm running a bare plastic tank.😳 This segment really opened my eyes.
